EUBIE & ME: AN AMERICAN LEGACY -- Starring TERRY WALDO

EUBIE & ME is a one-man theatrical show featuring the music of, and stories about, the legendary entertainer and musician Eubie Blake. Terry knew Eubie during the last 15 years of his life. Eubie referred to him as his "ofey son" and said that he was the only one who really learned from him. As Eubie's protégé, Terry carries on in the tradition of his mentor--playing, composing, and entertaining.

EUBIE & ME, Terry's loving tribute to his teacher, not only contains authentic performances of Eubie's music, but also many long-forgotten masterpieces of itinerant piano players, whose music has survived solely through Terry’s memory and his and Eubie’s performances.

EUBIE & ME portrays the grand old man of ragtime and a unique evocation of the times when ragtime and jazz were being invented. Eubie, who lived to be 100 years old, was at the epicenter of American music. He knew all the inventors of our pop musical culture. Thus, he knew the story from the inside, and he passed on his great store house of knowledge to his protégé. Terry embodies this legacy, and in this one-of-a-kind performance, he generously shares this rich musical heritage.

"An amazing performance. People who aren't ragtime fans before the show, certainly will be afterward."

THE NAKED DANCE: THE MUSIC OF STORYVILLE Written and Performed by Terry Waldo

Terry Waldo, internationally acclaimed performer and historian of ragtime and New Orleans jazz, has created a unique theatrical experience. The Naked Dance captures the spirit of the famous New Orleans red-light district. It was here during the first part of the 20th Century that the legendary bordello pianists, such as Jelly Roll Morton and Tony Jackson, entertained their rich clientele with all manner of ragtime songs of the day and invented brand new music later to be called jazz. Waldo’s one-man performance includes all the music that these professors were called upon to deliver--virtuoso piano solos, bawdy songs and of course original accompaniments for the Naked Dances.

“Thanks to Terry Waldo’s one-man show, we get a full-course sound feast of ‘The Music of Storyville,’ as well as the spirit of the once-legal, underworld of America’s most colorful city...The show leans heavily on the grace, muscle and – when called for – furious pace of Waldo’s piano artistry. He delivers.”
